"ANNUAL" MILLE GUNN MEMORIAL POOL TOURNAMENT

After being ill for almost a year and being misdiagnosed by her family doctor, my Mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 liver and pancreatic Cancer in March 2018. The Cancer had progressed so far that no treatment could be offered to help her. On May 04, 2018, I spent my Birthday with family and close friends in the VG Palliative Care Unit, after which my Mom went into a Coma and passed the following day.

After losing my Mother to Cancer on May 05, 2018, the Annual Mille Gunn Memorial Tournament was born in May 2019 in an attempt to educate people on this horrible disease. After beginning at Dooly's Rockingham location, the tournament quickly outgrew its Venue, and with its new home at Dooly's Portland Street location, we can accommodate the growing interest and raise more money for The Canadian Cancer Society.

The main purpose for me personally holding this Annual Event is to keep my Mom's memory alive by bringing people together to celebrate her life, have fun, raise money for an important cause, and to relay to others how important it is to cherish those you love, as they can be taken from you so quickly "as I learned the hard way."

This event would not be where it is today without the support of the players, dooly's staff, volunteers, donations from businesses and individuals, and the hard work of The Gunn Show's directing and streaming Team, as well as Craig T. (Metro Pool League Executive), who is always there to help when needed. With every event, there are three main prizes that we sell a large number of tickets for, which brings in a large donation amount every year. There are also many donations (I start collecting four months prior to Mom's event) for giveaways during the special day, and almost every person walks away with something, and this is my Thank You to all who support me and my tournaments. Jen R. (Manager of Dooly's Portland St.) and I also add $100.00 to the players pot for the Winners of the Event, her staff are amazing and help to make our day there a fun/memorable one. This Dooly's venue is the largest in the Halifax Regional Municipality with 20 beautiful pool tables to accommodate the large numbers at my event, and has a fantastic food menu you have to try.

A donation of $5.00 from each registration entry goes to The Canadian Cancer Society and $5.00 goes to Dooly's for green-fee's, the remaining money will be added and distributed to the winning players. There are multiple 50/50 draws during this special day, and the donation amounts for The Canadian Cancer Society continue to grow every year (See: the "Winner Stats" page for the increase in players and amounts raised each year).

All of the hard work that I put into all of my tournaments is for the players and Charitable Organizations.....plain and simple. Without you, there would be no events.

Note: Mom's Memorial Tournament will be posted on this Website, and the Facebook group 3 months prior to the tournament date.
